I am the new President of the Richmond Psychiatric Society. I am also a new member of the faculty at VCU and work as an outpatient attending. Though I am a new attending, this is my sixth year at VCU after completing my residency and fellowship in psychosomatic medicine. My time is divided between the new VCU Health Outpatient Clinic at Jackson Center and a community mental health center. I love the diversity, complexity and opportunity to supervise residents and medical students. I am delighted to be working at the new VCU Health Outpatient Clinic and to being exposed to many new beginnings including the new substance abuse clinic,
MOTIVATE.
I am proud to represent one of the oldest chapters of PSV. For years, this chapter has been a forum for local psychiatrists to get to know their colleagues and to provide support and mentorship. It has also been an avenue to learn from each other whether one is in private practice, community service or in academics. In this age of online CME, this organization still provides the warmth, support and close-knit feel that can only be felt in person.
I would like to welcome our new secretary, Dr. Inna Garber, attending psychiatrist at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center and our treasurer, Dr. Divya Gongireddy, who is a child and adolescent psychiatry fellow at Virginia Treatment Center for Children. The meetings for this season will start in October and end in June. They include an hour of CME and we have some exceptional speakers and topics on our agenda. Please join us every first Thursday of the month at the VCU Outpatient Clinic conference room at the Jackson Center.
