Vaya Health is currently recruiting for the position of Medical Director for Integrated Care, Asheville, North Carolina.
Vaya Health is a public managed care organization (MCO) that oversees Medicaid, federal, state and local funding for services and supports related to mental health, substance use and intellectual/developmental disability (IDD) needs. We operate in 23 western North Carolina counties that are home to over 1 million residents who may be eligible for our prevention, treatment, and crisis services. The Medical Director for Integrated Care provides clinical leadership for Utilization Management, Access, Care Coordination, Provider Network, and other clinical aspects of MCO functions. This position participates in Vaya Total Care and other integrated collaborative care initiatives to support behavioral health and intellectual developmental disabilities integration into primary care practices for target populations. The Medical Director of Integrated Care supports Vaya clinical staff in understanding and operationalizing principles of integrated care through teaching and consultation, including training of licensed practitioners and nursing staff and assists in determination of monitored metrics and data analytics needed to better predict actionable determinants of health care outcomes for special needs populations. This position will also visit physician offices and support Mountain Area Health and Education Center in training of primary care and behavioral health practitioners and coordinate primary prevention efforts with Health Departments and their physician leadership.
The Medical Director of Integrated Care will also maintain clinical oversight of Care Managers to improve both population health outcomes and the individual member’s experience of care delivery by the Vaya Health Plan and provide recommendations for how referrals to Peer Review and Critical Case Staffings are made, referencing current literature and leveling tools/ best practices endorsed by the Clinical Advisory Committee.
The Medical Director for Integrated Care must be a graduate of an accredited university or medical school with a doctoral degree in medicine. The Medical Director for Integrated Care must have completed a residency training program in psychiatry at an accredited program and be Board Certified in Psychiatry. Preferred individuals will have at least 5 years experience in providing psychiatric services and two years of administrative experience. Current or recent provision of psychiatric services is desirable. The Medical Director for Integrated Care must have and maintain a current, unrestricted North Carolina license to practice medicine. The Medical Director for Integrated Care must be Board Certified in Psychiatry with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Certification may be in Adult and/or Child Psychiatry and current if Maintenance of Certification is applicable.
