On August 2, 2019, PSV's Andrew Mann along with Lisa Diener from the APA and lobbyist Mark Hickman with Commonwealth Strategy Group, met with VCU residents to discuss PSV and APA membership as well as legislative and advocacy affairs. We had a spirited discussion about what healthcare issues and policies the residents cared most about, and on the recent General Assembly special session that Governor Northam called to address gun control. Other legislative, regulatory and policy highlights included mid-level provider expansion efforts, balanced billing, certificate of public need reform, the Deeds Commission and behavioral health hospital and mental health system reform. Finally, we highlighted the importance of this year's elections where all 140 seats of the legislature will be on the ballot. Residents heard about how important and easy it is to get involved in PSV and policy advocacy. We enjoyed our visit at VCU and look forward to the PSV Fall Meeting in October.
