Dr. Beatty |
Hello! My name is Kara Beatty and I am honored to be the PSV president-elect for 2021-2022. I am a psychiatrist in the greater Richmond area and own a private practice, Resilience Health. I am originally from Texas and completed my undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University.
After graduating, I traveled to Kaohsiung, Taiwan to teach English. When I returned to the United States, I worked as a case manager for individuals with intellectual disabilities. I then attended medical school at the University of Texas, Houston Medical Center. For residency, I went to Virginia Commonwealth University, where I served as chief my last year.
During that time, I fell in love with Richmond and all it has to offer. After residency, I completed a fellowship in Brain Injury Medicine. I then decided to open my practice and I was astounded by all of the support I found from the Richmond community.
In addition to my clinic and administrative duties, I sit on the Board of Directors for Community Brain Injury Services (CBIS) and am a member-at-large for Virginia Brain Injury Council. I previously served as president for the Richmond Psychiatric Society for the 2018-2019 year. I currently am part of the adjunct faculty at VCU and provide a rotation for 4th year residents interested in private practice.
Being part of PSV has connected me to many resources and other providers throughout the Commonwealth. Though I was born and raised in Texas, I am so grateful to have Virginia as my home!
