Richmond Psychiatric Society Chapter (RPS) Meeting Review

The Richmond Psychiatric Society (RPS) chapter of PSV held a social on August 12 at Hardywood Brewery. Several local PSV board members, physicians, residents, fellows, and other guests attended.
Delegate Betsy Carr and Delegate Rodney Willett visited and shared remarks about the importance of mental health providers, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated mental and behavioral health issues. Both delegates are leaders in the General Assembly on these matters. Delegate Carr sponsored budget funding that creates the Behavioral Health Loan Repayment Program. Delegate Willett is chairman of the Behavioral Health Subcommittee in the House of Delegates and is a member of the Behavioral Health Commission.

Andrew Mann, PSV's Association Executive, and Mark Hickman, PSV's lobbyist, also attended to share information about how to get involved in the profession and advocacy. Thank you to RPS for organizing this great event and to all who were able to attend!
