Dr. Christa Riley and the VCU Health Department of Anesthesiology will be hosting the Anesthesia History Association (AHA) Annual Meeting April 25-27, 2019. We invite all Virginia history buffs to plan to attend. The meeting will be held in the Hilton Downtown Richmond, within walking distance to many historic points of interest in Richmond, as well as excellent restaurants. The meeting will kick off on Thursday afternoon with a private guided tour of the Virginia Museum of History & Culture followed by dinner, drinks, and a lecture on the Richmond Theater Fire of 1811. This event changed the culture of Richmond and the new nation. Friday will consist of a full day of AHA meeting presentations with meals provided. Friday evening will include a reception, dinner, and keynote speaker at the hotel. Following breakfast on Saturday, AHA meeting presentations will resume and the meeting will close around noon. In the afternoon, we will visit Historic St. John’s Church where we will enjoy a private re-enactment of Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech, originally given at the Second Virginia Revolutionary Convention meeting on March 23, 1775. Continuing medical education credits will be awarded for educational sessions attended. Abstract invitations, as well as more detailed meeting information, are available on the AHA website www.ahahq.org. If you have any additional questions regarding the 2019 Annual AHA meeting, please contact Christa Riley at [email protected]. We hope to see you there.
