What do you know about the MSV Foundation?
The MSV Foundation is the nonprofit entity of the Medical Society of Virginia that puts a strong focus on making sure changes in healthcare are for the better.
How do they do that?
Through various physician-driven programs that work to improve awareness, find solutions and change lives.
Last year, the MSV Foundation was proud to introduce its latest addition to its physician wellness offering, Infuse, which had over 100 attendees and celebrated the joy in practicing medicine. This year, the Foundation is excited to bring back the Physician Leadership Institute (PLI) modeled after the renowned Claude Moore Leadership Institute that was delivered by MSV from 2006 through 2011. With a grant from the Physicians Foundation, MSV is pleased to renew its commitment to building innovative physician leaders within the Commonwealth.
This program includes progressive topics like training on bias, innovation and modern leadership to reimagine a new role for physicians. MSV’s previous leadership program graduated over 100 participants, many of whom advanced to influential leadership positions within their profession, including:
All physicians are leaders in the workplace of their practice, no matter the setting. The PLI program recognizes the physicians need to lead healthcare change, enhance and apply those skills to their practice and the community.
In addition to physician leadership, the Foundation concentrates its mission on interprofessional collaboration among healthcare teams through its national recognized program, SYNC. SYNC has been transforming healthcare leadership through a partnership with the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association (VHHA), the Virginia Nurses Association Foundation (VNAF) and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). The program’s hands-on problem-solving methods culminate in each team’s capstone project in which they assess a real challenge going on in their practice, develop and test their solution and share their findings with the other SYNC participants. This program receives rave reviews from participants including one of our physicians, “An excellent platform to reassess one's own strengths and areas to improve based on an individual's interest. It was very encouraging to learn from other teams and sometimes simple, but creative ideas."
With a population health drive, this program has implemented true change in healthcare through projects that have scaled to community-wide initiatives. The current SYNC cohort kicked off March 21 and includes teams from Charlottesville Wellness Center Family Practice, VCU Health, Augusta Health, Valley Health, Sentara Princess Anne Hospital and UVA Health System.
The MSV Foundation is proud to offer its programming at a discounted rate to MSV members, but needs your help to continue supporting and developing cost-cutting, sustainable programs. Your tax-deductible gift makes a difference by going directly to programs that impact the physician community, your patients and Virginia communities. PLI kicks-off on May 2, 2019 and costs $2,500 for MSV members and $3,500 to non-members. Easily apply and get more information about the schedule and curriculum on MSV’s website by visiting www.msv.org/PLI.
SYNC’s 5th cohort has already begun, but you can reserve your interest in the fall program, beginning September 26th, by emailing [email protected]
