PGY-3 Resident in Psychiatry, Carilion Clinic
As our nation is gripped in the current COVID-19 virus pandemic, healthcare and mental health care are facing tremendous challenges in the delivery of care. As we serve a vital catchment area in Southwest Virginia, we have transitioned to provide our services to patients via telephone or telemedicine appointments. We foresee the current situation as a catalyst to bring revolutionary changes and challenges in medicine. While we closely monitor the happenings related to the pandemic around us, we also strive to use innovative methods in the management of our patients and training residents.
We have also good news with regards to our psychiatry residents who continue to strive in various academics. We had three of our PGY-3 residents match to stellar Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowships:
We are also delighted to announce that two of our residents got selected to the American Psychiatric Association (APA)/APA Foundation Fellowships;
Our achievements are evidence of our continued efforts to train our residents to become not only competent physicians but also become future leaders in our field of psychiatry.
