LewisGale Medical School Update

This July, Â LewisGale Psychiatry Residency will be welcoming our fourth class. With these nine new interns, we will finally have a full residency! This is the largest class of interns we have had. The incoming class is coming from Pennsylvania, California, Alabama, Texas, Nevada, and even Southwest Virginia. We are very excited to see what our new interns will add to our team.
Dr. Linda Galicki, PGY-3, and Dr. Harrison Galicki, PGY-3, recently presented a poster at the annual APA conference. Their poster was entitled “The Relationship of Utilization of Mental Health Care in Patients with Substance Use Disorders With and Without History of Prior Incarceration.” Research like this will help move forward conversations about who receives mental healthcare, and how we reach those who are less likely to reach for help when they need it.
Finally, it is with both sadness and joy that we announce that Dr. Lauren Wilson, PGY-3, will be leaving LewisGale to attend the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Virginia Tech-Carilion Clinic.
