PSV President-Elect
The APA Annual Meeting in Atlanta was really packed with good speakers and trainings. One of the highlights for me was a talk by Justice Steven Breyer which was part of his book tour. He was quite entertaining in his description of the daily lives of supreme court justices. Another compelling one was by Andrew Miller of Emory University. His group has been working on the immunochemical basis of treatment-resistant depression. He made a potentially dry subject lively and informative as well as practically useful. Anita Everett, our new APA President-Elect and my former chief resident at UVA, was part of a presentation on the financing of healthcare. I'm happy to say that she will be a part of our spring meeting next year. Locally, the Blue Ridge Chapter met on May 31 and enjoyed a talk by fourth year UVA medical student Kathryn Baselice on postpartum psychosis.
